Aisha M. Mabarak, LMHC-D, CGP

Psychotherapist | Group Therapist | Psicoterapeuta

I am a licensed mental health counselor who offers individual and group therapy to adults, online and in person in NYC. My training began in Mexico, where I earned a degree in Psychology, and continued in the United States, where I completed graduate training in Forensic Psychology and later in Mental Health Counseling.

Throughout my career, I have worked with people from a wide range of backgrounds, including those involved in the criminal justice system, victims and survivors of abuse, and individuals seeking to better understand themselves and build more meaningful, fulfilling relationships.

My approach is grounded in the psychoanalytic tradition and informed by a relational perspective. I believe that our relationships shape how we experience ourselves and the world, and that in therapy we get to explore these patterns. I see the therapeutic relationship itself as an important part of the work, creating opportunities for greater self-understanding and emotional growth.

I also recognize that our identities and relationships are shaped by the broader social and cultural contexts in which we live. I strive to be attuned to how experiences of race, oppression, queerness, and other aspects of identity influence the ways we understand ourselves, form relationships, and make meaning of our experiences.

In addition to my core clinical training, I completed postgraduate training in group psychotherapy, and I am a Certified Group Psychotherapist. I am an active member of psychotherapy communities, teach graduate courses in group therapy and family violence, and chair professional events focused on group therapy.
